Featured News: May 17, 2018

Do you have a heart for the elderly or those with mental and physical disabilities? Do you feel led to make Aged Care your career? Are you short on time but not ambition?

Many students worry about the length of training courses - particularly because they need to work at the same time. So how can you achieve a balance between work and study?

Check out our post 5 tips to get a work, life study balance here.

We have courses in Aged Care designed to maximize the time you have, ensuring you get a quality education while enhancing your career. How do we do this? Through our Enable Support courses. Enable College offers four different certifications through our care courses. They are:

Certificate III Individual Support - Ageing:

This course contains 13 different units to study and teaches concepts like working with diverse people, maintaining proper legal and ethical standards, supporting people with dementia and providing food service. It is available on-campus in full-time, part-time, and blended formats. For those of you looking to complete a course as quickly as possible, this certification only takes up to 6 months. However, if you are working around current employment or caring for children, the part-time and blended options allow you to work at your own pace while being supported by our trainers.

Certificate III Individual Support - Disability:

This course also contains 13 different units and while it shares some of the same concepts as the Ageing certification, other topics covered include support of community participation and social inclusion, empowering those with disabilities, and assisting with ongoing skills development and assisting clients with medication. This course is also available on-campus in a full-time, part-time, or blended format to meet your needs. Full-time students can complete this certification in under 6 months.

Certificate IV Disability:

This course is for those who already have qualifications in the field or are working in the field and want to advance their career options. It contains 14 units of study to help you empower the disabled, facilitate their skill development, and help in service planning and delivery. Due to the higher intensity coursework, this is a 12-month program for full-time students. It can also be taken part-time or in a blended format.

Certificate IV Mental Health:

There are no pre-qualifications to take this course and it educates those who work with people affected by mental illness. This may include residential rehabilitation, clinical settings, home based outreach, or center based programs. This course contains 14 units of study and focuses on topics such as supporting people with co-existing mental health issues and substance abuse, collaborating with other services in the care network, and promoting self-advocacy. This is our most intense course, taking 12-16 months to complete. It is online and available full-time, part-time, or in a blended format.

Enable College prides itself on providing you with a quality education on your time. One of the other ways we assist in this process is through recognition of existing knowledge or skills relating to the course requirements. If you have received prior education and training or have work and/or life experience, you can apply for RPL, or Recognition of Prior Learning. If awarded, the RPL may grant you credits towards your coursework, allowing you to finish sooner than the estimated course length.

Another service available through Enable College is our Short Courses.  These are 1 or 2 day short courses designed to help you keep your certifications up-to-date or allow you to gain new skills without taking too much time from your schedule.

We are here to meet your educational needs in the time that you have available. For our full-time students, you achieve certification in an average of six months. Even if you choose to take one of our longer courses, we still offer a quality learning environment in a time that is appropriate for you.
